Quang Tri, Lao, Thai provinces boost tourism

Central Quang Tri province, the Savannakhet province of Laos and Mucdahan province of Thailand have agreed to work on tourism development and tap the Caravan tours to the three provinces.

A memorandum of understanding was signed by the three provinces’ leaders at the third meeting on tourism cooperation between Quang Tri, Savannakhet and Mucdahan provinces held in Quang Tri province, on July 27.

Under the MoU, the three provinces will work together to hold a festival to boost tourism to five central Lao province.

The three provinces have seen a two fold increase in the number of tourists since they signed a minutes of tourism cooperation in Mucdahan province on September 5, 2006.

They have also been active in promoting the East-West economic corridor tours by hosting seminars, fairs, and sporting competitions as well as distributing leaflets and VCD discs in the languages of English, Vietnamese, Thai and Lao.

Cuba helps to develop tourism site in Quang Tri

An expert from Cuba, Abelardo Eniqueperez Ayllon, is working with the authorities of the Islet District of Con Co in the central Quang Tri province on a plan to turn Con Co into an eco-tourism site.

Abelardo also worked with the province’s departments of Natural Resources and Environment, Fisheries, Trade and Tourism, Construction and External Affairs to get information about the islet and Quang Tri sea area. The Cuban expert will pay field visits to the islet to study its ecology.

The islet is part of Quang Tri to the province’s eco-tourism triangle of Cua Tung, Cua Viet and Con Co.

Hanoi – Quang Tri tour launched

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee have opened a new tour from Hanoi to central Quang Tri Province under a programme called “Memoir of the old battlefield”.

The “Memoir of the old battlefield” program was developed to meet the needs of veterans, youths and foreign visitors who want to see former battlefields in Quang Tri Province.

The tour will take in sites such as the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery, the Road 9 Cemetery, Vinh Moc Tunnels, Quang Tri citadel, Cua Tung and Cua Viet beaches.

Organizers hope that the new programme will contribute to preserving historical understanding of events in Quang Tri Province, while helping to bring more tourism income to the area.
